Bring your friends and come join us for a fun evening of painting, creating, chatting and sipping some wine! Absolutely, no experience necessary. This is about having fun being creative with friends while expressing yourself through painting with acrylics (it dries faster and cleanup is a snap, unlike oils). This is not a class about painting techniques or theory! We will support and encourage you to be free in expressing yourself. This is about strictly having a relaxing and enjoyable evening. I will provide all materials, wine and atmosphere for inspiration. Each class will have a different fun theme, appropriate for the month. Hope to send you home with a finished piece at the end of the evening.

It wasn’t until I retired in 2011 as a school administrator in northern Virginia and relocated to Tubac, AZ with my husband, was I able to focus on my burning desire to paint. It was an instant love affair with the gorgeous light, the rugged beauty of the terrain, the breathless sunsets and of course, the diverse culture and history of the area which caused us to settle in southern Arizona. Within me was the constant desire to paint, to interact with this beauty; to capture it’s strength and energy, to express my emotions. I have no choice, I must do this thing called painting and capture the light. In my search, oil became the medium that could best express my emotions – the pushing and pulling of paint across the canvas, the richness of the oil and the energy and excitement I could capture with this medium.
I have had little formal training in the arts, and my degrees are all in school administration. But, I have been extremely fortunate to study seriously in very small groups and semi-private lessons with several well know artists including Lou Maestas and David Simons, as my primary mentors and teachers, as well as, Walter Porter and Phil Starke. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to have studied with the very talented Nancy Boren and Michelle Dunaway, of the Scottsdale School of Fine Art. I am an associate member of AWA, American Women Artists, Portrait Society of America and Oil Painters of America.
My work has been on exhibit at Hilltop Gallery, Nogales, AZ, Tucson Open Studio, and at Tubac Center for the Arts. In the fall, I will begin teaching and have work on display at the Tubac School of Fine Art, LLC.
